Configure Screen Capture Data Storage

After installing the ObserveIT Screenshot Storage Optimizer component (see Installing the Screenshots Storage Optimizer), configure ObserveIT to work in Hot Storage/Warm Storage configuration to store the captured screen capture data:

Prerequisites:

  1. Log into ObserveIT Web Console and select the Management Console tab.

  2. Select the Configuration tab.

  3. From the left-menu, select Storage ManagementStorage.

  4. Select the Screen Capture Data tab.

  5. Click the Change storage mode button and Yes to confirm that you are sure you want to make changes. The Change Storage Mode dialog box displays.

  6. Select On fast SSD-based hard drive, and then signed sessions on standard hard drive (Warm Storage).

  7. For Hot Storage path, enter UNC path to the Hot Storage volume on the first ObserveIT Application Server in your ObserveIT deployment. For example:

    \\appsrv1.domain.local\oiths
  8. Click Test Access. If ObserveIT can access the path, a green checkmark will appear next to the button.

  9. For Warm Storage path, enter the UNC path to the SMB share on the screen capture data store that will host the ObserveIT Warm Storage. For example:

    \\fileserver.domain.local\oit\oitwarmstorage
  10. Click Test Access. If ObserveIT can access the path, a green checkmark will appear next to the button.

  11. For Archive path, enter the UNC path to the SMB share on the screen capture data store that will host the ObserveIT screen capture data archive. For example:

    \\fileserver.domain.local\oit\oitcoldstorage
  12. Click Test Access. If ObserveIT can access the path, a green checkmark will appear next to the button.

  13. Click Save Changes.

  14. Click Save Changes again.

    ObserveIT screen capture data handling is now configured.

Configuring Hot Storage for additional Application Servers

In Configure screen capture data storage you have configured ObserveIT to use the Hot Storage volume on a single ObserveIT Application Server in your ObserveIT deployment.

If you have more than a single ObserveIT Application Server, in this section, you configure ObserveIT to utilize additional Hot Storage volumes on the other ObserveIT Application Servers.

Prerequisites:

For each ObserveIT Application Server in your environment, do the following:

  1. Log into ObserveIT Web Console and select the Management Console tab.

  2. Select the Configuration tab.

  3. From the left-menu, select Storage ManagementStorage.

  4. Select the Screen Capture Data tab.

  5. Click Add New Storage.

  6. In the Add New Storage dialog box, from the Storage type dropdown, select Hot.

  7. Enter the UNC path to the Hot Storage volume on an additional ObserveIT Application Server.

  8. Click Test Access.

  9. If test is successful, click Save Changes.
