Network Installation

You can install the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agent either by copying the installation files to each server (which is time consuming), or by using a network share.

To install the Agent using a network share

1. Share the ObserveITAgent folder and grant read permissions for the Everyone group.

2. On each server on which you want to install the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agent, connect to the network share by using a mapped network drive or a UNC path in the format: \\servername\ObserveITAgent where servername is the name of the server on which you have shared the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agent installation folder. For example: \\srv1\WinAgent64bit.

   There are two Agent installation folders; one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. You need to share the relevant folder depending on the CPU and operating system architecture of the computers on which you are deploying the Agents. If 32-bit and 64-bit versions are used for deployment, you must share both folders.

3. Double-click the ObserveIT.AgentInstall.cmd file which is included in the ObserveITAgent setup directory.

   After running the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Enterprise Installation once, this batch file should be automatically updated with the correct server name and TCP port based upon your settings. However, if required, you can manually edit this file.

4. If you are prompted with an Open File - Security Warning window, click Run.

   A command prompt window opens, displaying the command that is currently running. After a few seconds, the command prompt window automatically closes.

   The notification tray area of the server displays a small icon for the installed Agent.
